DVSS strives to promote respectful behavior in all extra-curricular sports activities by student athletes, coaches, parents, officials, and spectators.  Any member who works with a DVSS team must sign this form prior to participating in any DVSS school sport.

As a participating teacher or community coach, I will:

DEMONSTRATE RESPECT FOR ATHLETES:
a. Interact with others in a manner that enables all players in sport to maintain their dignity.
b. Value all players regardless of gender, race, colour, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, age, playing experience, or any other conditions.
c. Place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
d. Act in the best interest of the player’s development as a whole person.
e. Not use foul, profane, harassing or offensive language or gestures in the conduct of coaching duties.
f. Never use physical force in any kind in the conduct of coaching duties.
g. Remember the academic pressures faced by my players and conduct practices and games in a manner that supports academic success.

COACH RESPONSIBILITY:
a. Will abide by the ASAA and DVSS rules and regulations.
b. Provide a sports environment that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
c. Promote a positive image to players, other coaches, officials, administrators and the public at large and maintain dignity in all circumstances.
d. Recognize the power inherent in the position of coach.
e. Be responsible for the actions of my players and provide supervision at all times.

Harassment takes many forms but can generally be defined as behaviors, including comments and/or conduct, that are insulting, intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, malicious, degrading, general bullying or otherwise offensive to an individual or group of individuals or which creates an uncomfortable environment.
g. Use the proper channels to address any concerns that arise including the Conflict Resolution Process.
h. Ensure my players act in ways that contribute to a safe environment, and through my actions I will model the behaviour I wish them to emulate.

HONOR SPORT
a. Honor sport and respect my opponent by not exploiting opportunities to run up the score as much as possible.
b. Accept the responsibility to work with other coaches and DVSS representatives in the best interests of the athletes and DVSS.
c. Respect major and minor officials and accept their decisions as final, without doubting their integrity.
