TOGETHER IN JESUS: FIRST RECONCILIATION:  In the Sermon on the Mount, you read about concrete ways Jesus calls us to love as he loves and as God loves all of us. It is not always easy. God gave us free will which is the ability to make our own choices. Through Jesus' life and teaching, like the Sermon on the Mount, we learn that caring choices - like being kind, truthful, forgiving, and humble - lead us to happiness. Let's turn to Page 4 in your booklet and see how you think he would tell each child to respond to the situation listed and write it in the box next to the picture. If you are not sure just look back on Page 3 to get some ideas.

Awesome!! Jesus teaches us that we not only need to keep the Ten Commandments, but he also teaches us to settle our angers before we worship, to love our neighbors and our enemies, to turn the other cheek, and to go the extra mile. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus challenges us to stop bickering, finding fault, or refusing to share, and instead practice love. If you look at the bottom of Page 4 in your Together in Jesus booklet you will see a list of questions that will help you to examine your conscience and allow you to ask yourself, "Do I act like Jesus?" These are all questions that will allow you to see if you treat others the way Jesus wants us to - in a loving way. When you have read over the questions find the sticker of the priest and child and place it on the page.
SPEAK GOD'S WORD CRAFT: In our lesson above, you looked at the words Jesus would say to these children to help them respond in a loving way. Jesus tells us that our words have power. Our words can be a tool used to help ourselves, and others, to forgiveness and life or they can condemn us. Jesus told us in the Gospel of Matthew that "... out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."  (Mt 12:34) Our words should be used to point others toward Jesus. Our words reveal our heart. If you want to know someone’s heart, listen to their words. What do your words say about your heart? In your "Lesson Activity Bag" for Lesson 3 you will find a "Speak God's Word" megaphone craft. Your megaphone will help you to clearly speak God's word - to speak loving words! Follow the directions below to complete this craft.
LEARNING ABOUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: Now we continue our examination of each of the commandments. We are up to the 4th Commandment: "Honor your father and your mother." Turn to Page 8 in your "Learning About the Ten Commandments" booklet to find out more about this commandment and then answer the questions below.

Fantastic job! The 4th Commandment does not speak so much about the obedience we owe to our parents but about something even more important. God invites us to love our parents, to pay attention to them, and to show them respect through your words and actions. We learn to obey God by first obeying our parents and other grown-ups with authority over you. Look closely at the "I examine my conscience" questions to see if you are showing honor and respect to your parents and to those within your direct family and your church family. When you are done locate your 4th Commandment sticker and place it on the page.
Super great job!  I want you to remember that "Reconciliation is a Celebration." It is a celebration of God's power to make all things new for us!! We will continue to learn more about this celebration as we continue our lessons!
