This year's contest is geared toward individual contestants as many of our past team members have since graduated out of 4-H. We also have new youth who aren't yet familiar with the contest and may not have the opportunity to be on a team, so a hybridized contest is being offered for 2022.

As we have no formed teams this year, contestants will be competing individually. For the team segments of the contest (team problems & Quiz Bowl), we will draw names and form teams of new friends to enjoy these events together!

The aim this year is to put the contest back together in a way that encourages in-person involvement, but that also allows for youth who may not be able to travel to still participate and learn about the contest.

Knowing that we have new members who are interested but who may be unfamiliar with much of what the contest involves, there will be three statewide contest practice and prep sessions held during the month of May. These sessions will go over each segment of the contest and allow youth an opportunity to learn with others what the livestock contest is and provide a jumping off point for their independent learning. It is also the hope that youth will get to know one another during these sessions so that when teams are assigned for team activities during the weekend of contest, they will be familiar and comfortable with one another.

Livestock judging and reasons will be done digitally through a contest prepared for us by LivestockJudging.com.

Skill-a-Thon will be a computerized test based on age/division.

Public speaking will be both in person and via Zoom.

Extemporaneous speech will be an option for all contestants and be offered via Zoom and in person.

Please label and appropriately pack and mail art entries for judging to arrive no later than May 20. Items will be shipped back following the contest. If you are attending in person, have your art items to check-in Friday morning.
