Mobile Hotspot Application for Families - Cherokee County Schools
Students and families of Cherokee County Schools:
Please use this form to apply to receive a mobile hotspot, which will allow your child's Chromebook to connect to the internet away from school. AT THIS TIME, ONLY STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN VIRTUAL SCHOOL WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A HOTSPOT. However, if your child is enrolled in traditional school but would need a hotspot if we enter a remote/distance learning situation, please go ahead and fill out the application. This will allow us to plan ahead to have enough devices if learning from home is required.
Please fill out one application per household.
The number of mobile hotspots we have available is limited. If demand exceeds supply, students who qualify for free/reduced meals will have first priority. You are not required to disclose your child's meal status, but if you would like your child's meal status to be used to help determine eligibility, please indicate this on the form below.
Please only apply for a hotspot if your child does not have a reliable internet connection at home. Please also be aware that the data for hotspots is limited to 2GB per month. The hotspot should only be used for completing school assignments. If a student runs out of data, they will not have more until the next month. These devices are heavily filtered and monitored. Only sites that students need for school will be able to be accessed.
Hotspots will be issued in August and must be returned to Cherokee County Schools at the conclusion of the 2020-21 school year (or sooner if the student returns to traditional school). If students fail to return a hotspot, they will be responsible for paying the cost of the device.
While we cannot guarantee a device to every family due to supply, we will make every effort to accommodate all students. Hotspots will be available while supplies last.
Each school will announce its procedures for having students pick up hotspots.
