CEAS Professional Development Application
Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of the We the People network, a nationwide K-12 civic education professional development and implementation network, impacting more than 100,000 teachers and 30 million students since inception! The Civics that Empowers All Students project (a Department of Education SEED grant) will support professional development to teachers in grades 4–8 across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Seventeen Virginia educators will be chosen for this professional development opportunity that covers the 2024–2025 academic year. Virginia Civics will review applications on April 8. Applications received after April 8 will be reviewed on a rolling basis, as space allows.

The Professional Development cohort will kick-off with a Summer Institute hosted at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture in Richmond, Virginia from July 29–August 2, 2024. Participants will be provided with a private room at the historic Linden Row Inn, meals, and a mileage reimbursement for their travel to Richmond. Participants who complete the program will receive a classroom set of the We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution textbook, 52 hours of professional development, and an $800 stipend for their time.
