Matariki - Dawn Celebration 2021
DAWN CELEBRATION
Matariki is just around the corner, so we would like to invite you and your whānau to celebrate the Maori New Year with Takapuna Normal Intermediate School on THURSDAY 1st July, from 7am - 8am in the school hall.

If you don’t already know, Matariki is the rising of a star cluster, which represents the Maori New Year. Matariki traditionally symbolises a time for fertility, remembrance and celebration as Maori gave thanks to the year gone by and to welcome the new beginnings of the year to come. Now it's a special time to celebrate Māori culture in Aotearoa.

Our Matariki celebration will begin at 7am and conclude by 8am. Our Kapa Haka will perform, there will be Matariki storytelling and shared kai (porridge). We will also have gluten and dairy-free breakfast options available.

Please fill in this form if you are attending so that we have an idea of numbers for catering purposes. If you have any queries, please feel free to email us. Please RSVP by Monday 28 June. We look forward to seeing all you there!

Ngā mihi,
