Basketball Intermediate (Year 7 & 8) Semester 2 Registration 2021

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Your child has expressed interest in representing the school in the Harbour Intermediate (Year 7 & 8) Basketball Competition for Semester 2 (Term 3 & 4) 2021.

Details are as follows:

COMPETITION COMMENCEMENT DATE -  Monday 9th of August  2021. (Competition runs for 13 weeks over term 3 and 4)

VENUE - Eventfinda Stadium (formerly North Shore Events Centre), Silverfield Place, Wairau Valley
or AUT, 90 Akoranga Drive, Northcote or Massey University, Albany.

COMPETITION PLAYING DAY AND TIME - Monday. Games are played anywhere between 3.50pm and 9pm

REQUIRED UNIFORM -  AJHS Basketball Singlet (issued for the semester) and AJHS PE shorts. All students must wear sports shoes. Mouthguards are compulsory.

TRAINING - Teams will have a minimum of one training per week, which will be held in the school gym either before or after school. Training days and times will be advised once teams and coaches confirmed.

TEAM SELECTIONS - We do not do a full retrial for the semester 2 competition. Students will be placed in similar teams to where they were placed in semester 1 but if we have situations where players do not return and we need to move players then in the first instance we will ask for feedback from the game coaches for each team. Then if necessary we will hold trials for selected players only. Details will be advised once all registrations have closed.

TRANSPORT - It is the responsibility of parent/caregivers to either transport their child to the games and trainings each week or to arrange for another parent/caregiver to transport them. The school does not provide transport for this competition.

REGISTRATION FEE - $160.00 (This includes Harbour Basketball semester 2 registration, membership, glory league fee, mouthguard and use of AJHS Basketball Singlet). Please note that if a basketball singlet is not returned at the end of the season or it is damaged students will be charged $80 to cover replacement of the singlet.

COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION FEE - $25.00 - If paid in term 1 this payment is not required again. (One payment of $25.00 will be charged regardless of the number of sports played)

REGISTRATION CLOSING DATE - 3pm Wednesday 7th July 2021

REGISTRATION FEE DUE BY: - Deposit of $80.00 due 3pm Wednesday 7th July and final $80.00 due Wednesday 28th July 2021. (A total payment of $160.00 is required)

For this length of time and at this level of competition each school team requires a coach and a manager.
As a coach you will be required to take a minimum of one training per week and also be available at the games. For team training's the school's facilities would be available for use before or after school subject to availability. Standard training times are either 7.30am in morning or 3.30pm to 4.30pm after school.
Managers are required to organise the team, ensuring all players and parents/caregivers are aware of game times and trainings and also arranging for a person to do scorebench duty at each game. Ideally the Manager will also attend games to support the coach and team.
Without parent volunteers it is impossible for teams to participate in the competition so if you are available to assist with either role please tick the appropriate box on the form.

To ensure your child is registered for the semester 2 basketball competition, please complete the following form and submit by 3pm Wednesday 7th of July 2021. Please also ensure that the deposit of $80.00 is paid by 3pm Wednesday 7th of July 2021 with remainder ($80.00) due Wednesday 28th of July 2021.

Our preferred method of payment is by internet banking.  Please make payment to our school bank account:
123107 0017930 00 Please use BB2 and your child's name as reference for payment.
Payment can also be made by cash, eftpos or credit card at student accounts.
