About the Lexington Market Public History Initiative: The Lexington Market Public History Initiative seeks to collect, archive, and tell the stories of Lexington Market, Baltimore’s largest public market and an icon of culinary and cultural heritage. Construction on a new Market building is under way with expected completion in early 2022, and at this critical inflection point for the Market, key partners have come together to launch this initiative in the hopes of both paying homage to the Market’s long history and also paving the way for its next chapter.

The initiative’s core partners are Baltimore Heritage, Baltimore Public Markets Corporation, Lexington Market, Inc., Market Center Community Development Corporation, and Seawall, and the work is partially enabled by a Pathways Grant from the Maryland Center for History and Culture.
