Get ready to shine on the stage of Threads, an inaugural cultural fashion show brought to life by the dedicated medical students of the University of Toronto! Scheduled for May 12, 2024 from 6 - 9 pm, at the William Doo Auditorium, this event serves to celebrate diversity, global health, and sustainable fashion practices.
Tickets are on a sliding scale, with minimum suggested donation of $5 per model, though you are welcome to donate more if you are comfortable. As a non-profit organization, this approach enables our collective support for Doctors Without Borders. If funding is an issue, please contact us via e-mail.
**MODELS THAT SIGN UP BY MARCH 13TH QUALIFY FOR A FREE PRE-EVENT PHOTOSHOOT**
Participants can join in groups or individually and will have the chance to:
- Walk, Choreograph, or Speak: Choose to simply walk the runway or choreograph a maximum 10-minute segment showcasing your cultural attire.
- Photography Shoot: Be part of a professional photo shoot, capturing the essence of your group and be featured on our social media channels and Palette magazine ** ONLY FOR SIGN-UPS BEFORE MARCH 13TH **
- Styling and Makeup: Benefit from the talents of student makeup artists and stylists, ensuring you look your best as you showcase your cultural pride.
- Music Selection: Select a song that resonates with your cultural presentation, enhancing your runway or choreographed segment.

- This opportunity is open to current medical students at the TFOM only, all years and campuses are welcome.
- You may sign up individually or in groups, if you wish to be placed into a group by us, you may indicate that as well below.
- Each group can represent as many cultures as they wish, with the requirement that at least one member within the group identifies with each culture that is represented.
- We encourage you to wear attire that represents your cultural heritage or a culture you identify with. This can range from traditional clothing to modern interpretations that reflect cultural influences. Culture can be national, ethnic, religious, or even relate to specific communities or interest groups.
- No outfits? No problem. Our Fashion and Design Team can offer advice and support in coordinating your look and getting in touch with ethnic stores to source your clothing.
