Cybersecurity Awareness Program
The City of San Diego and Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE) invite local small businesses to participate in the Cybersecurity Awareness Program, created to help small businesses increase their cybersecurity awareness and preparedness to bolster the region’s economic resiliency. The program is FREE to participating small businesses, made possible by a grant from the City of San Diego.

Cybersecurity Awareness Program Offerings:
-Detailed cybersecurity risk assessment from MasterCard’s RiskRecon.
-Cybersecurity awareness training for up to 100 employees from ESET.
-Tools to develop and exercise your cyber incident response plan with CyberCatch’s simulator.
-Threat landscape briefing from the FBI.
-Connectivity to the region’s cybersecurity industry including additional customizable resources.

This program is provided at no charge for businesses with fewer than 100 employees that are located in the City of San Diego or a supplier to San Diego businesses, and is for educational purposes only.

Cyber Risk Scan Snapshots

Mastercard RiskRecon will provide cyber letter grades and reports to cohort participants at the inception of the pilot and at a milestone during the program. These grades and reports highlight the company’s public cyber profile including cyber hygiene and potential vulnerabilities based on prevalence and severity. Mastercard RiskRecon sources only public data in the assessment of the grades and reports similar to a financial credit score, requiring no private or proprietary information from the participants. Cohort companies can utilize the information to gain a wholistic understanding of their internet risk surface and related exposure, third party risk assessments and performance benchmarked against peers and competitors. Mastercard RiskRecon will offer a discounted renewal for companies that would like to continue the subscription beyond the complimentary period.


Cybersecurity Employee Awareness Training

ESET will offer free 90-day subscriptions to their premium cybersecurity awareness training for employees. The training will be accessible to all employees of the cohort companies – online and on demand. It focuses on phishing, social engineering, compromised passwords and weak network security that can expose a business to hackers. Employers can monitor employee completions and institute company-wide tests to ensure continued cyber hygiene. ESET will offer a discounted renewal for cohort companies that would like to continue the subscription beyond the complimentary period.


Cyber Incident Simulator

CyberCatch will provide participants with a no-cost, one-year subscription to their Cyber Incident Simulator (CIS), an online tool used to perform a table top exercise to test an small business’ ability to respond to a cyber threat, such as ransomware, by simulating the attack and testing an company’s ability to respond, assess resiliency and identify gaps and blind spots in an incident response plan. The CIS provides analysis, scoring and tips to enhance an incident response plan, and a certificate of completion. The CIS subscription includes access to CyberCatch cybersecurity experts for consultation and guidance while performing the table top exercise. It also includes periodic updates to address various cyber threats.
