Members of the Data Visualization Society have been hard at work crafting a vision document for the long-term goals of the Data Visualization Society. We've taken that document and put it into this form, line by line, to allow members to provide feedback on anything that they feel could be improved. MISSION
The Data Visualization Society fosters a community where every member benefits from resources that support growth, refinement, and expansion of data visualization knowledge regardless of expertise level.
GOALS
Advocate for a greater understanding of the usage and impact of data visualization practice across disciplines, industries, and use cases.
Collect, develop, and curate professional resources for members.
Foster an inclusive, diverse, and international community.
Remove barriers between practitioners across tools, industries, geographies, and borders.
Support open and shared projects that focus on the development of best practices for data visualization methods, general practice, and historical research.
Create spaces that provide meaningful opportunities to offer and receive guidance, input, and critique.
Foster connection between members by hosting a robust calendar of global and local events and initiatives, both in-person and online, to serve a wide range of member-led interest groups.
Create a long-term sustainable leadership and member-driven governance model.

Providing Professional Resources: Job board, Mentorship program, Conference scholarships, Portfolio reviews
Exploring and Understanding the Community: Data visualization survey, UX for data visualization survey, and featured members posts
Creating Publishing and Speaking Opportunities: Medium Publication, Social Media, Conference, Local chapters
Publishing Topical Resources: Best Practices (per category), Topics in data viz discussion
