INTRODUCTION
Boyle County Virtual Learning (BCVL) will be a digital platform-based learning model which will serve as the primary source of instruction. A digital platform is a computer-based program that provides access to videos, tutorials, explanations and practice activities for courses/classwork. The student will complete all required platform work and any supplemental work that is assigned within the deadlines and timeframes. This is a self-paced program that allows students the flexibility to work outside “normal” school hours. However, there will be times students will be required to meet virtually with teachers and come onsite for assessments (including state assessments).
CRITERIA
- Students (grades 6-12) must be enrolled in Boyle County Schools.
- Reliable access to the internet*
- Interested students will be required to apply for the program.
- Principal approval prior to beginning the program
- Approved students must commit to a semester of virtual learning.

*The district can provide internet access for qualifying families based on economic need. Another application must be submitted to request a hotspot.

SUPPORTS
- Access to a certified teacher
- Tutoring and office hours with a live teacher
- All students will be issued a district Chromebook at no cost (not including damage fees).
- Counseling services
- Special Education and Gifted and Talented supports

CANDIDATES
While a virtual learning option isn't a good fit for all students, Boyle County recognizes this mode of instruction is optimal for some students. In order to be successful in the BCVL program, students should, at a minimum, exhibit these characteristics:
- Self-motivated
- Goal-oriented
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Independent worker
- Success in prior virtual programs
- Ability to follow a schedule
- Self-starter

DEADLINES
- Applications due for EXISTING families: April 11, 2021
- Applications due for NEW families: As they enroll
I have read through the above and would like to apply for consideration in Boyle County Virtual Learning (BCVL). *
