Kate Brandram-Adams:         Reg mental health nurse and reg mindfulness/ MBSR teacher
Kate is a Hurunui local with a passion for providing evidence and science based courses and workshops that support community wellbeing and resilience, right here in her beloved North Canterbury.
With 28 years as a mental health clinician and extensive group facilitation experience she provides a safe and professional environment for people to learn and explore.
After years working at the  mental health "coalface" Kate now uses that experience to provide "proactive mental health" in her community and mentoring/ supervision to health and caring professionals.
Kate only teaches what she practices (imperfectly) herself.

INTRODUCTION TO MINDFUL SELF COMPASSION: Reduce stress by being on your own side
This 4hr workshop provides both the theory, science, and research findings alongside practical exercises to take with you.
It is based on the research and cutting edge work of Dr. Kristin Neff, Prof Paul Gilbert and Dr. Chris Germer

The workshop will include the following:
The science stuff: The proven benefits and physiology of self-compassion
Dispelling common myths and barriers
How to be more on your own side to reduce stress in your life
Follow up resources

The workshop is skills based training not therapy.Held in safe space with confidentiality.


Mindful self compassion practices have been shown to be very helpful as resources in reducing stress and building our resilience when experiences are difficult or painful. However, doing this workshop when you have something acutely distressing happening is not always the best timing, please let me know so we can talk about it further.

 As a participant you always have the choice of how much or little you participate in the practices and any sharing.
This work is profound and tender for many of us. To ensure the appropriateness of the timing of this workshop for you and so it can meet your needs best I need to know the below information.
All information will be received and kept confidential and if you would prefer to talk to me by phone then please let me know and we can arrange that.


Mindful self compassion practices have been shown to be very helpful as resources in reducing stress and building our resilience when experiences are difficult or painful.
