GCPA Officer Information
Term of Office for Elected GCPA Officers:
The term of office of all elected officers will begin immediately. Most elected officers typically serve for a period of one year or until a successor takes office. The treasurer and members-at-large representatives shall serve for two years, and the president-elect shall serve for three years (president-elect, president, and past president).
Duties and Roles of the Elected GCPA Officers are listed below:
The President-Elect shall participate in activities relating to preparation for the presidency. The President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President in the absence of or incapacity of the President.
The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings at which the Association officers preside and shall conduct the correspondence for the Association as requested by the President. A copy of all minutes shall be forwarded to the President within one week of the meeting.
The Treasurer shall represent the Association in assuring the receipt and expenditure of funds in accordance with the directives established by the Executive Board and shall be bonded as determined by the Executive Board. The treasurer serves a two-year term and may not be re-elected to succeed himself or herself.
The Conference Chair/Elect shall initiate and plan all activities necessary to put on the GCPA annual conference. The Conference Chair shall work closely with the Treasurer and Conference Chair-Elect to ensure all financial and programmatic goals are met.
The Members at Large (Faculty, Private Institution, Technical Institution, and University System of Georgia) are important liaisons between the GCPA Executive Board and the institutional sectors they serve. Members-at-Large strive to establish communication relationships with members from each campus in their areas to ensure effective representation of needs. Members at Large are voting members of the executive board.
The Professional Development/ESAP Chair will be responsible for planning various professional development events throughout the year for GCPA members and potential members. This position will also coordinate and run our Essentials of Student Affairs Practices or ESAP Institute. ESAP is designed to provide individuals who work in Student Affairs without a traditional educational background a educational framework and foundation into the field.
The Web Content Manager will be responsible for keep the GCPA website up to date with relevant information regarding all GCPA upcoming events. Web Content Manager will assist with posting information on the website for conferences, workshops, seminars, nomination and elections.
The Marketing/PR Chair will be responsible for creating/designing branding publication materials to promote GCPA events. Also responsible for maintenance of social media outlets.
