2021 Space Settlement Design Tournament Virtual Event Application Form
The Space Settlement Design Tournament is a unique opportunity for high school students of all levels to be a part of an industry simulation where participants get to experience, in real time, the excitement of planning, designing, and proposing a human habitat somewhere in the solar system. Crash courses in management and engineering design will be given by seasoned space industry professionals. These lessons will be put to immediate use at the event. Additionally, participants will gain important experience in large team collaboration during the "new normal" era of COVID.
This year, the challenge, which will be held virtually and will be focused on designing a habitat for Mars. Participants will interact directly with industry experts, including former NASA engineers, as they work together in teams to design a human settlement at the Red Planet in the near future.
The design of such a habitat will require the expertise of all human professions. Physicists, Engineers, Computer Scientists, Biologists, Doctors, Lawyers, Graphic Designers, Urban Planers, Businesspeople and everything in between, there is no favorite job in our future.
Apply here to be a part of a team of like-minded motivated students to design a Settlement for Mars and present it to a panel of space industry experts.
The winning team will receive a certificate of recognition, the opportunity to join a virtual tour at the Houston Space Center and present winning design to a panel of NASA engineers and scientists.
Event Dates: March 11-14, 2021
Event Times : Thursday and Friday 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Saturday Main event begins 8:00 AM.
Sunday Event ends 4:00 PM.
Application Deadline: On or before March 9th, 2021.
Participation is capped at 200 highly qualified students.
Entry Fee: $100 (Limited sponsorships available to cover fee based on need.)
Final registration and details on how to pay the entry fee will be given after submission of this application and acceptance into the event.
