Due to social distancing parents will not be permitted on site unless invited to do so for a meeting. All children must be dropped off at the appropriate gate at their designated time. If you are late for your slot you will be asked to wait until the end of the slot.If you need to contact the school please telephone the school office or email parent@sjinf.brent.sch.uk (Infant school) or parent@sjjnr.brent.sch.uk (Junior school).

Altered routines for arrival or departure:
Stay with your parent on a marker when waiting to enter school
Move to the playground following the teacher’s instructions.
Wait in the playground trying to keep a distance from other people before moving to the classroom once instructed.

Following school instructions on hygiene, such as hand-washing and sanitising:
On entering school place their water bottle where they are asked to.
Wash their hands for 20 seconds.
Any coat and hat to be put on their peg.
Book bags to be placed in their tray.
•     Once hands have been washed to go to their chair and their table in the classroom.
Each child will have a bottle of hand sanitiser on the desk for use throughout the day. They should not use anyone else’s hand sanitiser.
Throughout the day children will be asked to wash their hands using soap and water for 20 seconds when:
Entering and exiting the classroom (start and end of day, to lunch and to the playground to play).
Before eating and after eating. After activities in class.
All items the children bring to school must return home with them each day, hat, coat, water bottle and book bag.
Please ensure the book bag only contains school books to reduce the items coming in and out of school.

Following instructions on who pupils can socialise with at school:
The children will play and socialises with children in their set bubble. Timetables have been created so the bubbles do not use the playground at the same time. Children should not be in contact with children from other bubbles as this increases the number of people in the circle they socialise with and therefore increase the risk of the virus being passed on. This is increased not only to them, but to the people they live with at home, the staff and all the other children and families in the bubble. (This should also be observed outside of school).

Moving around the school as per specific instructions (for example, one-way systems, out of bounds areas, queuing):
When in school, each bubble has an allocated classroom and set of toilets. The children cannot use or go to other classrooms or use other toilets whilst in school.
When moving from the classroom to the playground the children must stay in line and follow the teacher’s instructions.
Whilst in line the children must try to maintain a distance between each other.
Equipment cannot be taken to or used in the playground that requires sharing with others.
When moving from the classroom to another room children must follow the teacher’s instructions. Movement it the corridors is one way only; the children cannot return to the classroom for anything until the class return. There is a timetable for the use of other rooms so one bubble of children does not meet another bubble.

Expectations about sneezing, coughing, tissues and disposal (‘catch it, bin it, kill it’) and avoiding touching your mouth, nose and eyes with hands:
Children must tell an adult if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 if they can (if they are hot, if they are coughing, if they cannot smell or taste anything). These may change as government guidance changes.
Tissues will be available in all classrooms. Children will be taught, and will be expected to use tissues when they sneeze or cough and dispose of them straight away in a lidded bin.
As well as reminders throughout the day, children should try to remember not to touch their mouth, nose and eyes with their hands.
Posters and signs will be up throughout the school encouraging hygiene procedures, ‘Catch it, kill it, bin it’.
All waste must be put into a lidded pedal bin in the classroom, including all tissues. Children will be expected to use the bin themselves.

Rules about sharing any equipment or other items including drinking bottles:
Children must not touch or drink from other people’s water bottles.
Children may not share food.
Children must not share or use anyone else’s equipment (including pencils, rubbers, books, colours or glue sticks). All children will have resources provided for in school and will be cleaned at the end of each day for use only by that child the next day.

Breaks or play times, including where children may or may not play:
Each bubble of children will be allocated a playground to use.
They cannot play with children from another bubble.
For contamination reasons large playground equipment cannot be used on school,  including the climbing equipment/wall.

Use of toilets:
As in school, children must ask to use the toilet when in class and in the playground.
Each bubble of children has a different set of allocated toilets.
If the child has an accident, or makes a mess in the toilet, they must tell an adult so it can be dealt with. (this is not to be told off etc... it is only so it can be cleaned quickly and safely).
Children will be expected to wash their hands after using the toilet (signs, soap and paper towels will be available in all classrooms suites).

Rules about coughing or spitting at or towards any other person:
Children who cough or spit at other children (deliberately or persistently) will be sanctioned in school. In the first instance this will be time out, in the second instance this will be time out and a meeting with a member of SLT and a parent will be contacted.

Rules for pupils at home about conduct in relation to remote education and homework tasks:
At home using the google classroom, children must ask staff for help on tasks by placing a comment below the piece of work or in the class stream.
If rude or inappropriate comments are posted online on the google stream they will be deleted and the teacher will inform a senior leader at school.
In the first instance the teacher will ask the child not to make comments like that.
In the second they will be muted and a parent will be contacted.
If comments continue online as private comments to the teacher the matter will be taken to the head teacher and the account may be suspended.
Online work must be completed by the child, not by the adult. The adult may need to assist children (especially younger children) in uploading or submitting work, but the content must be the child’s.

Rewards and sanction system where appropriate:
Rewards will remain as they have in school, house points, stickers and teacher rewards will be used for good work and excellent behaviour.
If children are persistently unable to follow the teacher’s instructions whilst in school, for their safety and the safety of others they will be will be sanctioned in school. In the first instance this will be time out, in the second instance this will be time out and a meeting with a member of SLT and a parent will be contacted. This will not be implemented if a child forgets, and will comply when reminded, however if a child refuses to follow instructions the child will sanctioned.
Children who persistently refuse to try to socially distance will be will be sanctioned in school. In the first instance this will be time out, in the second instance this will be time out and a meeting with a member of SLT and a parent will be contacted. This will not be implemented if a child forgets, and will comply when reminded, however if a child refuses to follow instructions the child will sanctioned.

We attempt to socially distance at school, however we are aware that children are not always able to socially distance, we cannot guarantee social distancing can always be met with young children as government guidance states. Please be aware that in each classroom,  the ability to socially distance will be limited.
