Casting:
Edgar Allan Poe age range 28-35 The famed poet and storyteller himself
Virginia Clemm age range 17-24 His wife (and cousin)
Rufus Griswald age range 35+ His arch nemesis and literary critic
Maria Clemm age range 40+ His Aunt (and mother-in-law)
Butler or Maid 18+ Enchanted by stories and ready to play along

For the audition, please prepare a poem or section of a piece (up to 2 minutes in length) by Edgar Allan Poe.

About the piece: This original interactive historical piece for school groups and public performance will be fully created with the cast. Research will be expected as part of the rehearsal process. All ethnicities will be considered for all roles. Strong improvisational skills required.

BOB CRATCHIT Scrooge’s employee – hard working / good hearted
MARLEY’S GHOST The spirit of Ebenezer’s dead business partner
FRED Scrooge’s young nephew – jovial and happy
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT (m/f) – A big, genial spirit
MRS. CRATCHIT Hard-working, outspoken critic of Scrooge
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE non speaking ghost of the future
MARY Fred’s wife – also a happy spirit
MISS FEZZIWIG Daughter of Fezziwigs teen/ early 20's
SCROOGE AS A YOUNG MAN Ebenezer in his early 20’s
BELLE Scrooge’s fiancé – in her 20’s
A variety of other speaking roles

For the audition, there will be cold readings of the script. Also prepare an acapella verse of a Christmas tune.

About the piece: Billed as “a community event” This delightful adaptation will feature the traditional story with live music and a twist of special guest appearances in several smaller roles.
