This year 8,800 Central Texas elementary school students and teachers will attend Ballet Austin’s
The Nutcracker School Shows at the Long Center. The mission of these shows is to provide one act of a live ballet performance experience in a proscenium theater at a minimal cost for local elementary students.
For each 1 hour performance at 10am and 12pm, volunteers will greet 2,200 students at their buses, escort them to theater, and then escort them safely back to their buses afterwards. This role involves
quite a bit of walking and takes place outside with the opportunity to gather inside during the performance. Please dress appropriately
for the weather.
Volunteers may sign up for one or both day of the shows. Shifts start at 8:30am and end at approximately 1:30pm. This year, we will provide snacks and a light lunch, thanks to the generosity of our Nutcracker School Shows Sponsor, H-E-B.
