A residential psychodrama retreat organised and led by Ali Watersong and Craig Whisker, Certificated Psychodramatists and Members of the Australian and Aotearoa NZ Psychodrama Association

The retreat fee ranges from $850 to $1150 depending on your annual income. This provides you with use of the retreat facilities, group sessions, home-cooked food from Thursday's dinner through to Sunday's lunch, and shared accommodation for 3 nights (the option of staying Sunday night involves an extra cost - see further below).

Relating the retreat fee to participants' annual incomes is our attempt to recognise the range of personal incomes in New Zealand and the reality that lower earnings may prevent participation. We appreciate this generalisation does not take account of individual financial circumstances; however, our aim is to make it more possible for people to attend, so if this policy does not have that effect on you please let us know.

A tax invoice will be sent to your email address within a few days of completing this registration form. The invoice will include bank account details for making payment. A deposit of $150.00 is required to confirm your registration. Full payment is required by 11 November 2022, unless other arrangements are made. Registrations after 11 November may be accepted up to a maximum number of 14 participants.

Payment by instalments before the workshop is welcome. You can set up an auto-payment with us for weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments, or pay in ad-hoc instalments as you are able. Contact Ali to organise this. Credit card facilities are not available.

Registrations are only confirmed when you have received written confirmation from the organisers. Some dialogue between registrants and organisers may be required before confirmation is possible.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

Korimako Lodge is the main Centre building and can comfortably accommodate 28 people with its large kitchen, main workshop room, and four separate bunkrooms, and electricity throughout. Recent improvements include new individual bunks and mattresses, and a large night-store heater in the kitchen. There is also a log burner in the main workshop room.

Accommodation is provided on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in single bunk beds. No bedding is supplied so bring your own sheets, duvets, sleeping bag, pillows and towels. Bathroom, shower and toilet facilities are shared.

On Sunday, the workshop concludes by 3pm and there will be approximately an hour of cleaning up to do prior to leaving the venue. Please schedule this into your plans for homeward travel.

Staying Sunday Night for Recreation on Monday

There is the option of staying an extra night on Sunday 20 November and having Monday available for recreation, such as walking in the forest park. The extra accommodation cost is nominally $20 per person; however, there is a $150 per night minimum fee so the final cost won't be known until we know how many people want to stay over. We anticipate there will be food leftover for Sunday night's dinner and Monday's breakfast and lunch from the catering for the retreat; however, if you are planning on staying on Sunday night you may wish to bring your own food supplies.

Once we are in a position to calculate the extra cost of staying over on Sunday night, participants can then make a final decision about going with that option or not.

Mobility and other requirements?

The Environmental Education Centre is somewhat wheelchair compatible. There are suitable shower and toilet facilities adjacent to the downstairs bunkroom. The group work room and kitchen are upstairs with external access via a stone and gravel path and wooden veranda without steps. Some assistance may be required on the sloping path.

Informed Consent Agreement *

Please read the following statements that comprise our informed consent agreement for the retreat and confirm your agreement with each statement by checking the adjoining box. You are welcome to contact the organisers to discuss these statements (contact details below).

(1) Values Guiding Professional Practice during Psychodrama Events: Group members are unique individuals who are able to make decisions and take charge of their own lives. The group leaders honour the trust placed in them by group members by holding the interests and wellbeing of group members as paramount; providing a safe working environment and taking actions to protect group members from harm; and taking responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional boundaries between themselves and group members. The group leaders also foster the autonomy of group members by applying the principles of free choice and informed consent.

(2) Informed Consent to Participate: Group members freely consent to participate in the psychodrama group. Group members are informed by the group leaders about what is involved in the psychodrama event and the group leaders' ways of working. Group members have the right to refine or withdraw their consent at any time, including the right not to enact roles or participate in any activity, and this is respected by the group leaders.

(3) Privacy and Confidentiality: The relationship between the group leaders and group members is a professional practitioner-client relationship. Group members have the right to privacy and confidentiality. This means that all private information concerning group members and their circumstances, and all communications between the group leaders and group members, are confidential and privileged unless consent is given to disclose particular information. Exceptions to these policies may occur when the group leaders, (a) identify a risk to a group member or public safety in the immediate or foreseeable future; (b) identify a group member’s competence to make a decision is impaired; (c) are subject to legal requirements to reveal information; or (d) respond to a complaint about professional practice.

(4) Limitations of Privacy and Confidentiality in the Psychodrama Group: In the psychodrama group, group members interact with other group members and with the group leaders, and these interactions are expressed and shared on the understanding that all group members will honour each other’s privacy and confidentiality. This means that if group members are talking about the group to people outside of the group, they will take care to ensure anonymity is protected.

(5) Professional Supervision: The group leaders regularly consult with their professional supervisor about their work and ensure the anonymity of group members is protected when doing so.

(6) Notetaking: The group leaders takes notes about what occurs during a psychodrama event for professional purposes, such as for professional development, leadership accountability, and reflection with their professional supervisor. These notes are stored securely in the care of each group leader, and group members may request a copy of any notes relating to them. If group members take their own notes, they ensure anonymity is protected by not naming anyone and not describing what occurs in ways that might enable someone from outside the group to identify those involved.

(7) Undertaking Research: When group members participate in research conducted by the group leaders that utilises notes or other recordings of group members’ participation as the basis for scholarly dissemination, such as for journal articles or professional presentations, the consent of group members is required. If the group is specifically a research group then a separate informed consent agreement for that purpose is made prior to the commencement of researching. If the group is not a research group per se then if the group leaders wish to research the work of group members after the event they will seek the consent of those group members involved, including consent to utilise the group leaders' notes about the group members.

(8) Raising Concerns About the Group Leaders: The group leaders are members of the Australian & Aotearoa New Zealand Psychodrama Association (AANZPA) and are subject to its Code of Ethics (see: https://aanzpa.org/wp-content/uploads/AANZPA-Code-of-Ethics-October-2021.pdf). The Association also has a Complaints Procedure (see: https://aanzpa.org/wp-content/uploads/AANZPA-Complaints-Procedure-July-2016-Oct2021-Update.pdf). Group members who have concerns about the group leaders' practice may raise these with the group leaders and may request a meeting with the group leaders to do so without charge. Group members may also follow the AANZPA Complaints Procedure by writing to the AANZPA Ethics Secretary outlining the concerns they have. The AANZPA Ethics Secretary will advise group members about the Complaints Process and sources of further information and support.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellation more than 14 days before the workshop is eligible for a refund minus 20%
Cancellation between 3-14 days before the workshop is eligible for a refund minus 50%
No refund is applicable for a ‘no show’ or cancellation less than 3 days before the workshop.
Compassionate waiver of these policies is at the discretion of the organisers.
