Important Reminders:

● Seven (7) working days-notice required for any transcript/special document requests from the registrar.  

Special documents needed for Korean universities MUST be requested early in the second semester; do not request these last minute and expect your request to be fulfilled in time as they often require signatures from school officials and may require hundreds of pages of documentation. 
 
● 4 weeks (30 days) notice is required for teacher LORs and counselor LOR/school report/school reference/academic reference/any other document requiring or naming the school counselor.

last question on this page for further examples if you are unsure which to select.  If you screw up and have to request an LOR to be completed in less time than required, or over a holiday, do not expect it to be done and be pleasantly surprised if it is. If you find yourself in that situation, be sure to speak to the teacher/counselor in person to show awareness of your error and inconvenience caused them or their time with their family. Failure to do so may paint you in an entitled light, and you definitely don't want to appear as entitled in a scenario like that. Once you find out your LOR has been completed, it is American-culture academic courtesy to give a handwritten letter/card of thanks (not expensive gifts per handbook policy) to the teacher/counselor. 

● Deadlines for Teacher LOR requests are November 1 (semester 1); April 1 (semester 2) - December and May are black-out / non-writing months for teachers. 

This does not apply to the counselor, but bear in mind no counselor LORs will be written over Christmas holidays, so plan ahead! Your lack of planning does not create an emergency for others!

● Seniors are allowed to list 10 universities maximum per the school's rationale document. 

Appeals for exemptions MUST be requested in advance of submitting applications by sending the HS counselor a rationale email. You will need to schedule an in-person appointment with me together with your parents to explain the email, and I will present your appeal to school administration for a decision. If your appeal is rejected you can speak directly with the HS principal for clarification.

● Do NOT list a deadline that falls during a school holiday.

● Please write your FAMILY NAME, then your GIVEN NAME.

● Please provide information as detailed as possible so we can best support you.
