OXY ARTS - COMMUNITY HALL Request Form
COMMUNITY HALL is an initiative at OXY ARTS that offers open, flexible programmatic space, free of charge, to artists, community members and local projects.

As we continue to push ourselves to understand how art and art spaces can function in reciprocal relationship to community, we are committed to expanding COMMUNITY HALL with an open call to ask—what space do you need, and how can we support you?

We are interested in prioritizing projects that move margins to the center: projects led by Black, Indigenous, and POC artists and organizers, projects that serve our immediate community in Highland Park, and projects that actively seek to redistribute power and resources.

Since our opening in May 2019, our black box performance space has been utilized for a variety of community uses—pop-up exhibitions for local LAUSD schools, meeting space for local non-profits, workshop space, rehearsal space, and more.

As of January 2024, we are UNABLE to offer our black box performance space due to our Spring installation plans. The small gallery space as well as on-campus spaces can be made available.

OXY ARTS Mission
OXY ARTS is a vital public space bringing together the campus community, the Northeast Los Angeles community, and local and regional artists in socially conscious dialogue and engagement. We seek to share, connect and hold space for ideas and curiosity. You are welcome here.

OXY ARTS programs across mediums—film, visual art, performance, writing and music. It also serves as a gateway to Oxy’s five academic arts majors and minors: Art & Art History, Interdisciplinary Writing, Media Arts & Culture, Music, and Theater.

The room has a sprung dance floor, black walls, tables and chairs, a projection screen and AV capabilities. Our space is wheelchair accessible. We do not have a parking lot. At this time, our space is open at low capacity. We can be a host site for small group meetings. For more information please see our Visitor Info page: https://www.oxy.edu/oxy-arts/visitor-info
