Dear Parents and Guardians of Future Macaws:

As you know, Frank Augustus Miller Middle School’s top priority is student learning.  Each year, we seek ways to further equip our students to succeed in middle school.  We are excited about an opportunity we will have this spring to make sure that every incoming 7th grade student is well-prepared to start school at FAMMS.

It is our hope that every 7th grade student attends one three-hour orientation session.  At this session, your child will learn about how to check grades on line, how to access Google Sites for assignments, expectations for completing digital assignments, homework routines and other important school information.  Your child will leave the orientation feeling confident about beginning school in the fall and comfortable finding his/her way around the school. Parents must provide transportation to and from the orientation day. Please be aware that these sessions are for students only, this is a time for students to interact with their peers and teachers. We kindly ask that parents say goodbye to their child in a timely manner. Thank you!

NEW this year is the addition of a Transition to Middle School Parent Workshop. Parents may optionally sign-up to attend a three-hour workshop facilitated by our school counselors. Parents will learn about how to check student grades online using Aeries, how to use teacher Google Sites to check on class assignments as well as learn about the social/emotional changes that many students experience during the middle school years. Parents will also learn how to help their child navigate Social Media in a safe and healthy manner. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to FAMMS!
