Rear Receiver Hitch
Thank you for your interest in a rear receiver hitch.  This questionnaire will help determine which variation of the hitch you need and if additional spacers will be required for your Casita.  Please take good measurements as this is the only way to guarantee correct fitment.  If you have any questions, contact me before ordering.   Note:  When ordering, the default is for a wide hitch.  This is a

These hitches are intended to fit onto Casita frames that use 3” C-Channel as the main structural runners.  There are older frames around the late 1980’s that use 2 pieces of box tubing in the rear.  These hitches are not intended for use on this style frame.  These hitches will also require drilling eight, 7/16" holes through the Casita frame.  This may void your warranty with Casita.
Much time has been spent trying to figure out the best width to make the hitches to ensure fitment on most models.  Two widths are available to reduce or eliminate the need for spacers.
The anatomy of a Casita frame.  Imagine removing the fiberglass shell, standing on your rear bumper (the blue box), facing forward, and looking down, this is what you would see.  Through the years stabilizers have transitioned into scissor jacks, but non of that is pictured.  There are other changes too, like the rear bumper, but those won't affect the measurements needed to determine hitch fitment.  The measurements that determine which hitch you need are between the frame rails pictured in red.   Keep scrolling down.
Here's a picture from another angle.   Keep scrolling down.
Here's a side picture from a real Casita underneath, notice the main beam is a 3" C-Channel.    Keep scrolling down.
Ok, almost time for some measurements!  Remember, we're still looking from overhead with the Casita shell removed.  Notice the placement of the hitch shown in green and how the mounting tabs are on the inside of the frame.  This is why we're concerned with frame width, these mounting tabs are fixed and do not change width.
Please take good measurements! This would read 46 and 7/16ths.  Return shipping is not cheap!  If you are not comfortable using a tape measure ask someone who is confident and knowledgeable.  Remember, the tang on a tape measure is meant to slide!  The slide allows the tape measure to automatically account for the thickness of the tang while using the tape to push against an object and measure!
Measurement time!  For these two measurements you'll need to crawl underneath your Casita.  The 1st measurement is ~ 15" from the front face of the bumper as shown below.  Similarly, the 2nd measurement is ~2.25" from the front face of the bumper.  Remember, if you have an older Casita, your bumper will not be a box, but more of a rectangle.  This doesn't affect the measurement because we're measuring from the front face.
Take your Measurements and write them down!

The 1st measurement is approximately 15" from the front of the bumper.  On older Casita's this is usually 46" or slightly under.  On newer Casita's this is usually 46.5" or slightly under.

The 2nd measurement is similar to the 1st except 2.25" front of the bumper.  This is most likely identical to your first measurement or very similar.

In addition to width, the frame needs to be checked for obstructions.  If you haven't added anything to your Casita, you should be good as the hitch was designed to work around all stock accessories I've seen.  However, it can't hurt to double chuck if anything is in the way.  Using the drawing, check that there are no obstructions.  If the drawing is hard to see, zoom in with your web browser.  This is usually done by holding the Control key and using the scroll wheel on your mouse.  You can also right click the image and open in a new window.
Are your measurements around 46", if not skip to next section.
Ok so your measurements are around 46", you need the narrow version, but make sure the frame rails are at least 45 15/16ths.  Again, for the narrow version, do not order unless the measurements you take from the instructions are 45 15/16ths or larger.   If you are narrower than this, email me.  Doug@casitaworks.com
Are your measurements around 46 1/2"?
Ok so your measurements are around 46 1/2", you need the wide version, but make sure the frame rails are at least 46 3/8ths.  Again, for the wide version, do not order unless the measurements you take from the instructions below are greater than 46 3/8ths or larger.   If you are narrower than this, email me.  Doug@casitaworks.com
