2019-2020 Vermont CARES Internship
This work was originally started as a partnership between Trina Thornburgh (LCOM Class of 2021) and Vermont CARES. The selected intern would drive a mobile van into Franklin County to provide Harm Reduction supplies to clients. The internship is part of an effort to promote the sustainability of an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship. The goal is to dispose of used syringes and distribute sterile ones to residents of rural Vermont who use syringes to inject drugs. In the process one would also distribute Narcan and Fentanyl Test strips and show clients how to use them, as well as gather information about injection preferences and patterns from clients. We typically reserve Friday afternoons for appointments to meet with clients.
