We have been looking forward to this day for a long time...waiting for your turn to join our awesome band program to arrive! We would love for you to be part of the band at Crestwood Middle School. We have a long history of really good bands at Crestwood. Our high school bands have performed at some amazing places, like Severance Hall, Disney World, The Fiesta Bowl, The Gator Bowl, and even the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Mrs. Wiandt and Mrs. Adkins are super excited for you to join our band family when you move up to the middle school next school year. Normally we would come to CIS to meet you in person, but this year is a little complicated!
Some facts about band at Crestwood:
- It is an academic class, so it meets every day during the school day. You get school credit and a grade for being part of the band. Your gym and art classes meet the same way but only for one grading period during another time of the day.
- Students at Crestwood CAN participate in both band and choir.
- Students in the band at Crestwood excel in academics and sports too- it is possible to do it all!
- Students in 6th grade band will perform 3 concerts over the school year.
- Anyone can be in band- you don't have to have any experience in music before joining in 6th grade.
Please watch the videos below about the instruments and how to Be Part of the Band.
To join band at Crestwood Middle School, fill out this form and hit send. This will send your information to our band directors Mrs. Wiandt, Mrs. Adkins and our school counselor Mrs. Morrison. It is important to complete this part of the process now so scheduling for the next school year can be done on time.
We will get back to you in mid May about being in band. Once it is safe to do so, we will help you select your instrument and discuss supplies and how to get an instrument. This will probably take place in August or once school starts. Your band teachers will send an email to let you know what you need when.
Please know that money should never keep a student from participating in band. We have ways of helping in cases of financial difficulty and know that our current situation has created hardships for many families. If this applies to you, please let us know in the "comment or question" section at the end of this form. It will be confidential.
