Natural Rhythms: Sound, Zines, and Documenting a Journey with Listening
Led by Nicole Misha

“The first concern of all music in one way or another, is to shatter the indifference of hearing.” - Lucia Dlugoszewski

Listening is at the heart of all things. It’s the key to revisiting the past, mindfully participating in the present, and imagining new futures. This workshop will explore the liberating power of listening by engaging with selections of music (think Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane) and language (think June Jordan, think Octavia Butler). In addition, we’ll explore the power of self-documenting one’s journey with listening and sound, by referring to zines on listening and mindfulness, as well as making our own throughout the workshop.

This is a sound-based workshop. If you have access to headphones or speakers, please use them! If you don't, no worries! The workshops will be captioned by Verbit.
