Spring Bird Walk 2023
Calling all bird enthusiasts! Our Spring Bird Walk is coming up and all are invited!

WHEN: Saturday, May 13, 2023. Either meet at our UUCGL parking lot between 8:30 to 8:45am  -  OR  -  those who may wish to go directly can just drive over to the Sanctuary and be prepared to meet there at 9:00am. The walk may last from one to two hours; those who wish to leave the walk early may do so.

WHERE: Our destination is the Marblehead Audubon Sanctuary, located at the end of Risley Road on Marblehead Neck. There is a small, dedicated Audubon parking lot at the entrance to the Sanctuary; overflow parking along the sides of Risley Road near the Sanctuary entrance.

ITINERARY: We will start at the Sanctuary entrance at 9:00am and walk clockwise around the loop trail. This includes visiting the pond in the center, walking up the hill behind the pond, walking along the boardwalk through the fresh-water wetland on the other side, and returning back to the main entrance. We will look for whatever bird species we may find  —  and we will also identify the spring wildflowers that we may encounter.

WHAT TO BRING: Bring binoculars and field guides if you have them.  Also bring insect spray that repels ticks (mosquitoes are not really too active at this time of year).

CHILDREN are most welcome!  But anyone who is too young to drive must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

COVID? The pandemic has largely subsided, and no protocols are being planned —  but people are still catching the virus, and bringing masks is suggested; wear at your discretion.

Whatever we see and hear, the woods will be newly green and beautiful!
