TEACHER APPLICATION FORM
Thank you for your interest in joining our team of talented teachers at Dominican University's Summer Gifted and Talented Program (SGAT), offering fun and academically challenging week-long courses for G&T students entering grades 2-8 in the Fall. The mission of SGAT is simple: To foster the Love of Learning.

SGAT is not for everyone. It is a fast paced learning environment and one size does not fit all. Teachers are expected to create content based pre-tests for each independently designed class assigned in order to assess student learning and adjust lesson plans throughout the week accordingly. The end of week post-test measures student learning in an accelerated above-grade level class with like-minded peers. Final student narrative evaluations are submitted by teachers within a week of course end.

Students have opportunities for physical movement outside of class during daily P.E. and recess time, and are encouraged to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Below is a sample daily schedule:

8am/8:30am        Teacher Check-In/Staff Meeting (M/Tu-F)
9:15am                  Student Arrivals/Drop-Off; attendance and class bell ringers/do nows
9:30am                  Class Begins
10: 10am               P.E. Class, 40mins (staggered scheduling by grade throughout the day)
11:30am                Lunch
12:00pm                Recess
12:30pm                Class Resumes
3:00pm                  Student Dismissal/Pick Up

Teacher Stipend is $900/wk, M-F, and contractually binding upon signing. Returning teachers earn $50 bonus per assigned week. Sample syllabi are provided for teachers to independently design their course in full including pre/post tests. Final student narrative evaluations are collected within a week of course end. Teachers team supervise lunch/recess and have a daily 40min prep period during their assigned PE class.
