Parade Theme

LET THE GAMES BEGIN is our parade theme for 2024. We encourage floats to depict your favorite Summer Olympic sport (2024 Summer Olympics is in PARIS), or your favorite summer sport, or pride in your favorite team or country. Prizes for best themed unit will be:

1st Prize $100 in Chamber Bucks, 2nd Prize $75 in Chamber Bucks & 3rd Prize $50 in Chamber Bucks to spend at most Melrose area businesses.

Parade Notes

* Lineup will occur on 8th Ave NW and Railroad Ave W.

* The parade begins by taking a right on 5th Ave NW and continue for 2 blocks (these blocks are home to our nursing home and assisted living residents), then turning left on 1st Street NW. The parade will continue 2 blocks and then turn left on 3rd Ave NW for 2 blocks until turning right on Riverside Ave W. It will continue down Riverside Ave until 2nd Ave SE, where you will turn right for one block and then go left on Main Street. Now the parade follows its usual route down Main Street until 5th Ave NE where you will take a left and continue north until 5th Street NE (Melrose High School area).

* Individuals throwing candy & merchandise must be able to throw to the curb and not into the street.

* Units with multiple participants meet at another location and enter the parade line up as a group on your parade unit if possible.

* All units with animals must have a cleanup team.

* All towing vehicles and walking units must keep up with the pace of the parade.

* No use of alcoholic beverages will be allowed on units during the parade.

* No throwing water or water balloons.
