Barb Hazen has been with the watershed council since its beginning, recording most of its board and Executive Committee meetings.  A Vermont dairy farmer's daughter, she brings her love and respect for the land and its inhabitants and really enjoys picking up a shovel or pick and helping with the physical volunteer opportunities we have to offer.  She also enjoys hiking and photographing in the watershed.

Jeff Malik

Jeff grew up in the Appalachian foothills of eastern Tennessee, and only moved to Oregon in 2017. His knowledge of rivers predominantly comes from the Midwest, where he managed youth conservation crews in rural Pennsylvania and summer programs in the City of Pittsburgh. During his studies to obtain his MPA at the University of Dayton in Ohio, Jeff worked for the Rivers Institute and continued to engage young minds in all things river-related. Since moving to Oregon, Jeff has spent his time exploring his new home by foot, kayak, and bicycle. He works as the Destination Development Manager for Travel Lane County, and enjoys serving on the MFWWC board to learn more about western water issues and to share his expertise working with students and volunteers.

Jeremy Light

Jeremy was born in Oregon and raised near Hayden Bridge on the McKenzie. He grew up in a skiing, back packing, and camping family; he is the youngest of 8 kids. Jeremy joined the Army for 2 years in 1987 and ended up spending 29 years focusing on Logistics, moving 13 times over the course of his career throughout the United States and Europe. Jeremy and his wife of 20 years, Jessica, moved back to Oregon to raise their 4 kids while living on the Willamette river and enjoying camping and fishing up Fall Creek and the coast. Jeremy is very interested in sustainable forestry and preservation of the environment through education and getting people outdoors. Jeremy works for Weyerhaeuser where he manages the trucking operations in the state of Oregon.

Justin Overdevest

Justin is a Senior Associate of Good Company, a sustainability consulting-firm, and provides clients with market and technical research and analysis as well as business feasibility and planning for food, natural resource and environmental technology business models. Justin earned dual master’s degrees in the Sustainable Business Practices MBA program and an MS in landscape architecture, planning and public policy programs at the University of Oregon. Justin served as an agro-forestry Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic/Haiti and Peru. Following his international work, Justin assisted communities in rural Oregon bringing entrepreneurship projects together via a W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant in UO’s Resource Assistance for Rural Environments program.

Don Bennett

Don graduated from CSU-Fresno in 1969 and entered the US Air Force. He then spent time as a flight engineer for Braniff Airlines and held numerous management positions with Graybar Electric Inc. His goals for retirement were to live somewhere with beautiful mountains, lakes, and streams; and to do volunteer work. In 2012 this goal brought Don and his wife to Lowell. Don threw himself into the community of Lowell where he volunteers throughout the community. In 2014 Don ran for Mayor, won, and was re-elected the next term. He appreciates Oregon’s great outdoors and wants to be part of helping preserve its pristine beauty for future generations.

Kim Forrest

Kim Forrest is a long-time Middle Fork Willamette River recreation and conservation enthusiast currently living in Springfield, Oregon. She has held past professional roles with nonprofits focused on wildlife rehabilitation, clean cookstoves, community education, and environmental and cultural preservation through scientific research and ecotourism. With a background in History and Archaeology, she is especially interested in the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council's community and youth educational programs and increasing focus on DEI initiatives and inclusion of native cultural heritage. She is the current Marketing Director for her family's second-generation run Eugene-based company, Forrest Paint Co. You might run into her on the Middle Fork where she likes to run on the trails at Dorris Ranch, launch from Jasper and take out at Island Park, or camp out anywhere east of Dexter Reservoir

Chantal Wikstrom
Current Position - Member-at-Large

Portland, OR

Chantal is a 2nd generation Khmer-American who grew up living and working in the rivers, farms, mountains and coast of the Salish Sea bioregion. They served as a Peace Corps Volunteer (2014-2017) in eastern Zambia where she supported smallholder farmers in sustainable agriculture and learned the many sides of international development, it's history of colonialism and the disproportionate impact on affected communities. Chantal is passionate about sustainable land management, supporting BIPOC farms/ranches and protecting rivers of the world. They enjoy rafting, hiking with their dog, growing food and sharing fermented food and drink with others.
