Empowering Elderly Mental Wellness - Revitalising Ageing with Six Bricks
Ageing causes unnecessary cognitive decline. Tackling cognitive decline can dramatically improve people's lives. There is enough research-based evidence that supports the fact that cognitive abilities can be maintained or improved by exercising the brain through engaging intense mental exercises everyday that target and work on the brain’s core cognitive abilities. Research evidence shows that the brain has the ability to adapt, re-learn and grow as you age - a process called brain plasticity. Through training on a regular basis, individuals will become more effective in reasoning, solving problems and making decisions.
With 30 years of experience in education and training, we have curated a fun, easy and high impact cognitive program using Six Bricks. This Cognitive Decline Intervention Program (CDIP) using Six Bricks can slow down cognitive decline and potentially improve functions such as orientation, calculation, language, comprehension, judgement, and memory. We will be sharing the results of our first ever pilot study in one centre of a national care home chain in 2023; how the program is run; some hands-on activities on sample activities, and how it works in elderly care settings through volunteers.
