Communication Studies Minor Application
This form should be completed when you are enrolled in SCOM 240/241, Introductory to Communication Theory and Lab.  Please do not complete this form if you are not currently enrolled in the class.

Also, this form is NOT for those in the interdisciplinary Sports Communication minor as this program does not require an application.

This form is due by November 15th for those enrolled in the fall semester, and by April 15th for those enrolled in the spring semester.

All students interesting in minoring in Commmunications Studies must apply for a limited number of spaces while completing SCOM 240 and SCOM 241. Admission to the minor is based on availability to the most qualified students as determined by performance in SCOM 240 and SCOM 241. While there are no pre-determined course grade requirements, we expect to accept 75-80% of applicants in any given semester. A student may not take SCOM 240/241 and apply for the minor more than twice, and those applications must be in consecutive semesters. *

Once admitted to the School of Communication Studies, a student cannot retroactively apply more than 9 hours of SCOM courses to their minor, including SCOM 240 and SCOM 241.
