Volunteer Coach Agreement - Monticello H.S.
The Athletic Director will use the following procedures for approving a Volunteer Assistant:

1. The applicant must review this agreement with the supervising Head Coach.
2. The applicant must agree to each of the Volunteer Coaching Guidelines and Albemarle County Public Schools Volunteer Code of Conduct standards expressed herein.
3. The applicant must be approved prior to coaching (this includes attending any organized team activities including conditioning, practice or contests).
4. The applicant, if not an Albemarle County Public Schools employee, must provide proof of fingerprinting and a background check conducted by Albemarle County Public Schools prior to coaching.
5. The applicant must be a high school graduate.
6. The applicant must complete all applicable VHSL Coaches Education requirements.
7. The applicant agrees to the guidelines below without any expectation of compensation or benefits, monetary or otherwise.

Volunteer Coaching Guidelines
The applicant must be willing to make a commitment to the team on a regular and consistent bases, including attendance at practices, meetings and contests. *
Required
A volunteer shall not be used in lieu of an approved coach on a stipend. *

The volunteer shall be selected by a recommendation of the Head Coach to the Athletic Director, and shall be approved by the Athletic Director. *

The conduct of volunteer coaches shall be exemplary for the growth and developmental needs of all students. *

The supervising Head Coach will be responsible for providing proper guidance to volunteer coaches in relation to coaching ethics, VHSL and school policies, eligibility regulations, practice and game attire, and coaching duties. *

Volunteer coaches shall not be assigned nor assume any disciplinary responsibility. *

Volunteer coaches agree not to in any way undermine the decisions or authority of the supervising Head Coach, Athletic Director, or the Principal, including comments made to students, parents, or community members. Violation of this will result in immediate termination as a volunteer coach. *

The volunteer may be removed/dismissed at any time by a recommendation of the supervising Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Principal. *

ACPS Volunteer Code of Conduct
As an Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) volunteer coach, I agree to abide by the following code of conduct:
I agree to conduct myself in a professional, respectful manner at all times. I understand that volunteers are role models for students, and will conduct myself accordingly. *

I understand that Albemarle County Public Schools has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion of all students. I will uphold those policies and values while volunteering.  I will not share my personal or political views with students while volunteering.  If I have any questions about this, I will ask the supervising Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Principal. *

I will share with the supervising Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Principal any concerns that I may have related to student welfare and/or safety. *

I will not transport students without having been approved by Albemarle County Public Schools. *

I will not possess weapons of any type while on school property or during school events off premises. *

I will not possess or use tobacco or any nicotine-related products and will not possess or be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or illegal drugs on school property or during school events off premises. *

I understand that in the course of volunteering, I may learn private or sensitive information about students, families, or staff.  I agree to maintain confidentiality outside of school.  I will not share information that I learn about students or staff with anyone except to carry out my volunteer responsibilities. *

I agree not to exchange telephone numbers, email addresses or any other home directory information with students for any purpose unless it is required for my volunteer roles.  I will exchange home directory information only with parental and/or administrative approval. *

I agree to take reasonable and appropriate action to prevent the commission of an illegal or immoral act. *

I agree not to engage in sexual harassment of students, other volunteers, or school employees.  I will avoid having inappropriate contact with any student, whether or not on school property, which includes all forms of sexual touching, sexual relations, or romantic relations, any touching which is unwelcome by the students or inappropriate given the age, sex, and maturity of the student. *

I agree to refrain from using school information technology equipment, hardware, software or internet access for other than an Albemarle County Public Schools related purpose. *
