2024 Leadership and Life Skills Summit

In 2024, the OHIO YAB and ACTION Ohio will plan and facilitate a Leadership and Life Skills Summit for Current and Former Foster Youth, with support from the Ohio Children’s Alliance and the Department of Children and Youth.

The 2024 Leadership and Life Skills Summit for Current and Former Foster Youth will inform and empower Ohio teens and young adults with a foster care history (ages 14-24).  This includes young people who have experienced adoption, kinship care, reunification and congregate care placements.

Time: 9 am – 4 pm
Location: Crowne Plaza Columbus North Worthington, 6500 Doubletree Ave., Columbus OH 43229

Breakout Sessions for current and former foster youth, ages 14-24, will include:
  • Suits for Success: Free professional clothing for participating youth
  • Creating and Maintaining Healthy Relationships
  • Introduction to Finances
  • Job Interview Role Plays 
  • Leadership Workshops
  • Postsecondary Resources, including ETV funds
  • Supporting Youth with Identity Development
There will be a learning track for with CEUs for adults who transport youth. Adults must transport youth in order to be eligible. Adult workshops will focus on Exit Plans, Transitional Housing, how to support youth identity development and how to develop Conscious Connections with teens and young adults.
