The Penguins for Earth Pledge aims to quantify the collective impact of earth friendly actions that our community can take to protect our planet. The pledge lists individual actions a person may take to conserve water, reduce their carbon footprint and advocate for the planet's help.

We have included the estimated impacts a person performing these actions in a day (water conservation) or year (carbon footprint reduction) would have on their average footprint to help you assess your personal impact.

Please select as many actions you wish to pledge to perform within the following year. We will present our communities potential collective impact during this year's Earth Day programming.

Actions to Conserve Water: *

Toilets: Update your home's toilets to WaterSense-labeled toilets (saves 9.01 gallons/person/day)

Toilets: Install a toilet tank water-saving insert (saves 2.86 gallons/person/day)

Toilets: Reduce daily toilet flushes by 25% (saves 3.54 gallons/person/day)

Laundry: Replace clothes washer with an ENERGY STAR-labeled washer (saves 6.39 gallons/person/day)

SOD Blitz for Marin County. The SOD (Sudden Oak Death) Blitz is citizen science event that involves volunteers walking through forests along the Pacific Coast and collecting leaf samples from the California Bay Laurels (Umbellularia californica), a native tree which plays a crucial role for the epidemiology of an infectious disease of concern for North America's forest biodiversity.

Recognize environmental justice means racial justice. Both ocean, air, and water pollution from hazardous waste and chemical use, and extreme weather events from climate change, unequally impact low-income communities of color.

If it goes in, on, or around your body or home, choose organic. Sunscreen, bath and body products, agriculture runoff, untreated sewage, pesticides, fertilizers, chemicals are all around us and they all end up in our food and water supplies which end up in you. Environmental Working Group is a great resource for non-toxic product and food source ratings.
