Your personal information will be held confidentially in accordance with our privacy policies*. Collated, anonymised data may be shared with our funders to contribute to wider surveys of the creative industries.

Monitoring information collected by Serendipity and Dance4 is important to provide accurate data on who is engaging with us and our work, and to evidence we are providing equality of access for all. It will only ever be used to support an open call or recruitment decision if we have stated this within an application process. It will never be used as part of selection criteria at shortlisting stage, but if specified, it will be used in the final selection stage to ensure there is diverse representation across our opportunities.

Monitoring information of individuals who engage with Serendipity and Dance4 is collated and used in retrospect to see where gaps need to be addressed. This can inform the need for Serendipity and Dance4 to target specific underrepresented groups.

We want to know who is engaging with us so that we can take positive action to seek out and support those that are not. By completing this monitoring form, you will help us see how we are doing.

This tells us a lot about how far people are traveling to work with us to help us track our environmental impact and direct future activity or employment to areas and communities with the least engagement.

Age
Standard data categories, such as age, in no-way account for people at the intersections of marginalised characteristics, we want to be able to understand the complex identities of those who connect with us. Age is a powerful discriminating force alone but especially when it interacts with other marginalised characteristics.

Gender
Major inconsistencies between opportunities and access exist for individuals due to their gender in our sector, including in leadership, employment and training. We will use this to check the gaps on pay and to support our organisational practices, programmes and facilities to become more gender inclusive.

Ethnicity
Positive action and monitoring diversity in ethnicity is a crucial component of our Diversity and Equality Action Plan. It helps us to highlight inequality in our workforce, audiences and programmes, identify underlying causes of discrimination and ultimately helps to remove unfairness and disadvantage resulting from bias.
How would you describe your ethnicity?
Sexual Orientation
We want to include people with all sexual orientations, including the marginalised LGBTQ+ community who often face extreme and hostile environments. We record all sexual orientations so that difference is recognised, valued and insisted on.

Disability
Dance is a viable and enjoyable activity and career for people with disabilities, yet they face many barriers to participation and training. Through Dance4’s Changing Perceptions work we have identified what needs to shift and by understanding how many disabled people connect across our work we can continue to develop opportunities and improve access.
Do you identify as D/deaf or disabled, or have a long-term health condition?

Caring Responsibilities
We understand that the people who engage with us have multiple roles in their lives and that the nature of working in the competitive and intensive cultural sector is not always compatible. We are actively looking to improve the working conditions for people with caring responsibilities, including freelancers who are parents. We monitor this alongside gender because they are the biggest drivers of the gender pay gap and slowing career development for women.
