In regards to the Tillamook Lightwave ReConnect Grant Application:

I am writing to voice my support of Tillamook Lightwave's grant proposal to provide high-speed internet service to the Highway 6 corridor in Tillamook County, OR.

There are currently very few internet options available in my area and of the options that are available, the data speeds are very low. The cell phone service along the highway is non-existent, meaning the communities here have no connectivity whatsoever.

Our communities are seriously concerned about safety on this heavily trafficked highway, where 7 people lost their lives last year and lack of connectivity makes it nearly impossible to contact emergency services from the scene of the accident. Bringing high-speed internet here would allow us to extend some connectivity to drivers and tourists and improve safety for all.

As a resident of Tillamook County, I support Tillamook Lightwave providing us with access to high-speed internet. I can attest to the hardship the lack of service causes the families of this community. High-speed internet is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. It will not only enhance the quality of life in the community and provide a critical route to emergency services, it will also serve as an avenue to connect us with the digital resources that we are now missing.

I strongly encourage you to approve the grant proposal that Tillamook Lightwave has submitted on the behalf of Tillamook County, the Wilson River valley, and the Highway 6 corridor.

Thank you.
