SAA SNHS Membership Application 2023-2024
2023-2024 Juniors (Honors/AP science), Seniors (Honors/AP science), and Exceptional Sophomores (students taking an AP Science Course) 

The purpose of this organization shall be to encourage scientific thinking and engagement by advancing students’ knowledge of science, increasing communication between students and the scientific community, and aiding the public with its comprehension of science and the scientific process through student-led public outreach and community service.


Fall APPLICATION DUE OCTOBER 1, 2023 to be considered for 2023-2024. Current Members do not have to reapply, but overall GPA and Science GPA will be reviewed (must maintain GPA status to remain member). *Approved Members will be invited to participate in SNHS activities and work towards Honor Cord requirements. Meetings Held on most Wednesdays 2:45-3:15 (starting Wed. September 13, 2023) - attend as you are able. Another round of applications will be available for review in January if you miss the October deadline.

Membership 
SAA SNHS applying members must meet the following by-law requirements:
(Current Exceptional Sophomore, Junior, Senior Students)

  • Section 1. "Membership is an honor bestowed upon a student."

  • Section 2.  "A member must be in the last two years of secondary school education (juniors and seniors), but exceptional sophomore students can be accepted into a chapter if taking an AP science course).

  • Section 3. "A member must have and maintain a 3.0 (80+) grade point average (GPA) across all classes and a 3.5 GPA (87+) across all sciences. The GPA requirements are unweighted GPA values.”

  • Section 4. "A member must be enrolled in at least one upper-level science class (Honors and/or AP) during each membership year."

  • Section 5. “A member must maintain behavior that is acceptable to the guidelines as outlined by the school’s code of conduct.”


Membership into SAA SNHS Chapter = $15 yearly dues.
A one-time $30 induction fee will be collected if requirements are met over the course of membership to grant the honor of an Honor Cord for graduation.
