This form is a space for first- and second-hand survivors of sexual violence at Davidson College to share their stories. All former students (transfer, alumni) and current students are welcome to share. These stories can include, but are not limited to: stories of the violence itself, stories of support received (or not received) from the college/friends/family, stories of healing, and stories of the reporting process (both informal and formal).
Sexual violence is a nonlegal term that refers to any type of activity that forces, coerces, and/or violates sexual or emotional boundaries. This includes sexual harassment, abuse, stalking, manipulation, coercion, assault, and rape. It is important to note that these things are not mutually exclusive and often occur simultaneously.
These stories will be published anonymously on
beyondthefrats.com and will not be used for any research purposes. You do have the option to publish your name under this submission if you'd like. If you do not want your story published, please indicate on the form. We ask that full names do not be used, but feel free to either change names or use initials for the people who caused the harm.
We are collecting these in an attempt to record stories of sexual violence at Davidson outside of the formal ways of reporting (i.e. through campus police, the sexual misconduct board, and/or town police). We want to create a community where it is safe to share these stories and where all survivors are heard and believed. We also want to make sure that these stories do not disappear after the survivors have left Davidson.
If you choose to not publicize your story, we invite you to use this as a possible form of catharsis. We see you and we believe you and we hope you get the healing you deserve.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us through the website.
