Class Description:

This class and group will use the book Understanding Your Grief by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D. along with the accompanying journal to help participants understand and befriend painful, complex thoughts and feelings after the death of a loved one. The underlying premise of the book, and the class, is that one's grief is her love for the person who died in a different form, and like that love, it’s also natural and necessary.

Through the class and reading, the bereaved will learn Dr. Wolfelt’s Ten Touchstones for engaging grief and finding healing. Through the journal and support group, the bereaved will apply these principles and find compassion and peace.

Class and Support Group Information:

Peace Restored is offering an educational class and support group called Understanding Your Grief that will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6pm from May 10 to August 2. The class portion will be held at 6-7:30pm May 10 through August 2. The supplemental support group will meet at 7:30-8:30pm May 17 through July 27. Both the class and support group will take a week off for the Independence Day holiday.

The books Understanding Your Grief and The Understanding Your Grief Journal are required materials.

Both the class and group will be facilitated by Emily Key and Rebekah Gilmore.

We strongly encourage participants to attend both the educational class and the support group. However, some may choose not to participate in the support group.

Fees:

Educational Class: $30

Books (materials): $30

Support Group: $20

Options for payments:

Full amount for all options selected (class, group, books); $60 or $80 for a 12 week program
