Review the Gardening Agreement

1. Gardeners must be active RCA members to rent a garden plot - Memberships can be purchased at https://ramsay-community-association.square.site/s/shop

2. The period of plot rental shall be May 15th - October 31st each year (spring and fall extensions are available upon request).

3. Online garden plot registrations will open on September 1st of each year for the following garden season. E.g. On September 1st, 2022 plot registration will open for rentals starting May 15, 2023. This will reserve the plot for the following planting season.

4. Gardeners will be allocated a plot once the rental agreement is signed, a plot is purchased online, and active RCA membership is confirmed.

5. Once plots are filled, a waitlist will be established on a first come first served basis.

6. The planting deadline is June 15 of each year. If there are no visible signs of planting by then, the plot will be considered abandoned and will be reassigned to the next person on the waitlist.

7. Commit the time to regular gardening.

Growing flowers/herbs/vegetables in a community plot is a very unique style of gardening with great benefits and some tough challenges that home gardeners don’t experience. The distance from your home often limits how frequently you can visit your garden and the difficulty of managing your garden from afar. If you’re not careful, these challenges can make community gardening feel more like a burden than a joy.

8. If a gardener is unable to continue gardening, they shall notify the Garden Committee. Gardeners wishing to cancel mid-season should notify the Garden Committee so that plots may be reassigned. There will be no fee reimbursement and all above ground material, including stakes, must be removed by the gardener.

9. Gardeners shall keep their plots weeded and tidy, and maintain the pathway surrounding their plot.

10. If a gardener’s garden bed is unkempt, they will be given two (2) weeks notice to clean it up. If they do not comply, their bed may be reassigned and their annual fee forfeited at the discretion of the Garden Committee.

11. All tools must be returned to the tool shed when gardeners are done.

12. Please remove all compostable materials to personal compost or city compost bins. There is not enough variety of material present in our garden space to facilitate composting on site.

13. Because plot usage is seasonal, a fall cleanup is required. Date will be determined in September of each year and provided to gardeners a minimum of two weeks prior to the clean up date.

14. All dogs must be on a leash and are not permitted to roam freely in the gardens. Owners must pick up after pets and bring the waste away with them.

15. Smoking on the garden property is prohibited.
