Ways to be Involved in Pelham Together
Pelham Together is a local, nonprofit organization that identifies ways for every member of the community to be involved in the support of our youth. Volunteers participate as advisors to PT on particular topics from a range of backgrounds and expertise; help plan and chair events; chaperone social events for middle school youth; serve as School Liaisons at each building helping parents navigate PT resources and collecting concerns and suggestions; mentor youth as summer interns or on a youth-led business; as members of our DEI review process; and as Executive Board Members.

Please email contact@pelhamtogether.org with any questions or suggestions. We look forward to working with you!

Mentor:  There are two ways to fill this role. First (A below), adults from all professions and trades are invited to host a Pelham teen in a 3-week summer internship, serving as a mentor and trusted adult and sharing insight into the work world. This role takes place during July and August. Second (B below), adults with finance, marketing, and automotive experience encouraged to take an active role in mentoring youth who run the Pelicones Ice Cream Truck business.

Event Volunteer:  Work on a planning team to create PT's annual SummerFest and WinterFest community-wide events, including logistics, securing sponsorships, engaging volunteers, decor, and promotion; set up volunteer sign up for day-of tasks; Chair PT's premier fundraising event, SummerFest, with a friend, and live out all your event-planning dreams as lead organizers!

Plan & Chaperone Youth Socials:  Plan fun social activities for middle school aged youth to increase social options in town for this age group; collect youth ideas through student surveys, coordinate logistics, and organize parent chaperones. Past events have included Open Skate Nights, community art installations, Volleyball and Spike Ball Tournaments.

School Liaison: The liaison at each school (Colonial, Hutchinson, Prospect, Siwanoy, PMS and PMHS), is the point of contact for parents during the year to listen to and collect questions, ideas, and suggestions for topics related to supporting youth of that age. The School Liaison will help parents navigate PT resources and supports, thereby acting as a peer parent for their school community.

Advisor (various topics based on background and expertise):  Advise and guide PT staff on current topics and challenges facing youth, including substance misuse, mental health, technology and social media, employment, social, and life skills; make suggestions to and connect PT with relevant speakers, websites, providers, and other resources to add to our online database and/or pursue for local events; advise on ad-hoc situations as they arise during the year; guide and/or advise PT programming on areas related to background.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Review Volunteer:  Participate in PT's DEI Review process and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all program and operations; meet times per year to review three cornerstone PT programs and events through a DEI lens; discussions include program evaluation in order to ensure accountability and effectiveness at reaching goals with respect to DEI.
