Safe Buddies: Event Booking Request
General Information
  • Safe Buddies is a program operated by the BOLT Safety Society, a federally-registered not-for-profit Canadian corporation

  • This is a paid service, starting at $240 CAD. Our rates are provided later in this form.
  • We will do our best to accommodate all requests, however, this is contingent on availability

To book Safe Buddies for your event:
  1. Fill out this form, at least 2 weeks prior to your event
  2. A representative will contact you to confirm details
What Safe Buddies do:
  • Create a safer guest experience by having a ‘Safe Buddies booth’ that is a designated safe space for guests
  • Can walk guests to their ride / bus stop / back home, etc after the event
  • Can call 911 in the event of an emergency or connect guests with crisis support services (e.g. sexual assault hotline, walk to the nearest hospital, etc.)
  • Can patrol the event and check-in on guest well-being
  • Are physically non-confrontational

Understanding our rates:
Your final quotation depends on the event size (number of guests), the number of staff required on our end to cover the event, and the duration. Safe Buddies are paid, and BOLT Safety Society covers all expenses for staff (e.g. transportation, equipment, etc.)

Staffing requirements depends on event size:
We can cover events between 50 - 1,000 guests. Knowing how many (approximate) patrons will be in attendance determines our staffing requirements:
  • 50 - 250 attendees: 1 HQ Coordinator, 2 Safe Buddies (team of 3) → smallest event we do
  • 250 - 500 attendees: 1 HQ Coordinator, 4 Safe Buddies (team of 5)
  • 500 - 1000 attendees: 1 HQ Coordinator, 6 Safe Buddies (team of 7) → largest event we do
The break-down: we charge a $150 base fee per 250 patrons, PLUS $30/staff per hour, with minimum booking for 1 hour

Our formula: [$150 base * (x groups of 250 patrons)] + [$30/staff/hr * (x number of staff) * (x hours)]
  • Example: 250 patrons, 3 staff, 1 hour: ($150 * 1) + ($30 * 3 * 1) = $240 bill
  • Example: 500 patrons, 5 staff, 5 hours: ($150 * 2) + ($30 * 5 * 5) = $1050 bill
  • Example: 775 patrons (goes in the 750-1000 bracket), 7 staff, 3 hours: ($150 * 4) + ($30 * 7 * 3) = $1230 bill
Payment:
  • Option 1: Cheque addressed to “BOLT Safety Society”
  • Option 2: E-transfer
  • At least a 50% deposit is required a minimum of 72 hours before the event start time to confirm booking
  • A member of our team will connect with you after receiving your booking request to facilitate payment
