Please fill out the form if you are a new or returning youth mountain bike rider interested in group rides this spring and/or racing in the VAHS Spring race series.
The New River Valley Youth Cycling Alliance combines coaches, resources, and athletes for practices and spring season activities, though, you may register to race
through VAHS under your NICA team (
NRV Composite OR
Blacksburg High School). Elementary racers can register using
NRV Composite.
Riders are welcome to just come out and ride at practices; you do NOT have to commit to racing. From VAHS (https://vahs-sports.com/about): VAHS MTB is the official USA Cycling interscholastic mountain bike race series. Sanctioned by USA Cycling, VAHS offers competitive racing for riders of all ability levels. The series is open to ANY high school, middle school, or elementary school student.
Each event has separate Elementary School (Lower [Grades 1 and 2], Upper [Grades 3, 4, and 5]), Middle School, Freshman, J.V., and Varsity races for both girls and boys. Most races are on primarily single-track trails and are multiple-lap events to provide a spectator-friendly experience for coaches and parents. Racers do NOT need to be on a school team to participate nor do racers need to have any race experience. VAHS MTB Series is open to public school, independent school, and home school students.
