Do Not Submit Open Mic in the Square (LABOR DAY, Sept. 7th @ 1:00 PM)

Hi! Thanks for your interest! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY.

We will be holding storytelling open mics in North Center Town Square on select dates in August/September.
The Square is located next to the CVS parking lot at 4051 N Lincoln Avenue.

There is ample metered and free parking in the surrounding area. Please do not park in the CVS lot.
The Irving Park Brown line stop is a few blocks away.

"Seats" will be extremely limited for safety reasons. You will need to bring a blanket or chair or stand for the 90 minutes. There are only a few cement ledges and benches to sit upon.

We are welcoming tellers and listeners, but will prioritize tellers to have a full list of participants. We should have time for approximately 10 storytellers. First come, first, served.

We expect that you will honor your commitment to your spot if you register to attend. No-shows take away a rare opportunity from others. If something unexpected comes up, please notify us immediately.

FULL SAFETY PROTOCOL WILL BE FOLLOWED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WISHES OF THE VENUE

1) Proper distancing will be enforced, and upon arrival, you will be assigned a zone more than 6 feet from anyone else. We will ask that you stay in your designated area for the duration of the open mic.

2) Masks will be required for listeners at all times.

3) Participants will be on stage at least 10-12 feet from any listeners. The microphone and stand will be thoroughly sanitized between each storyteller.

4) If you are feeling ill in any way, have had any exposure to infected persons, or have traveled to a hot spot recently, we ask that you stay home.

Storytellers will have seven minutes to share, read, or speak anything they'd like.

THIS WILL BE A SOMEWHAT FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT DUE TO THE LOCATION. Please refrain from any profanity outside of "damn," "crap," etc. Adult content that would fly over the head of children is fine, but anything that would be inappropriate for the space is discouraged. (For instance, a story of losing a parent or workplace discrimination is fine, but a detailed account of a sexual experience or drug-fueled shenanigans would be off limits.)

In the event of significant rain, we will cancel the event and notify you the night before or morning of. If you do not hear from us, the event is on.

Are you attending with anyone else that you currently share space or air with? (A roommate, spouse, or other?)  If so, please list their name(s) below so we can assign you to the same zone. Please note that they need to fully register via this form as well.
I promise that I will follow all safety protocols put into place for the event, or I will be asked to leave. I understand the risk of even safely staged outdoor events in the time of COVID. You have my word I will not be attending if I have been ill or exposed in any way. *
