This year we will have 7 interisland travel scholarships sponsored by the HMSA Foundation for those residing on the outer islands. Ideally recipients will be from the following locations: 2 Big Island, 1 Kauai, 1 Molokai, 1 Lanai, 1 Maui, 1 at large. Each scholarship is worth up to $700 ($200 hotel room at Ala Moana Hotel, $200 cost of registration, $200 flight, $100 to your organization to carry out an immunization project). Recipients of this scholarship must complete an immunization project (focused on your community or your staff) between March 2023 and June 2023. Results of the project will be provided in the form of a report or poster (digitally) to HIC (to share with the HMSA Foundation) by June 30, 2023. Each recipient will be assigned an advisor from the HIC board to consult with on the project. Examples of projects include: creating a flier or media message to encourage immunization practices in your community, initiating clinic standing orders, creating a clinic SOP, building a partnership, a community event to promote immunizations, etc. Recipients will have time at the conference to discuss their projects with the HIC consultant. It is highly recommended that the scholarship recipient also attend the free mixer on March 7 at the Ala Moana Hotel (dinner is provided).
