HAN Leadership Application
The San Francisco AIDS Foundation’s HIV Advocacy Network is a grassroots group of activists in the bay area fighting to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic and improve the lives of communities impacted by HIV.  The mission of the HAN Leadership Team is to guide the strategic direction of HAN’s advocacy efforts by empowering community members in advocating for issues affecting communities impacted by HIV.

COMMITMENTS
HAN Leadership Team members commit to serve a term of 7 months and volunteer roughly 8- 10 hrs per month in order to help lead and coordinate between the different teams. There is also a yearly retreat for new leaders.

Monthly time commitments:
 
- Attend the monthly leadership team meeting (~1 hr/month)
- Coordinate a monthly team meeting (~1 hr/month)
- Attend the monthly HAN general meeting (~2 hr/month)
- Coordinate with team members on active campaigns and mobilizations (~4 hr/month)
- Monthly mentorship check-ins with the SFAF Senior Community Mobilization Manager (~1 hr/month)
- Administrative duties including sending out meeting reminders, recording volunteer hours, sending out notes, etc. (~1 hr/month)
LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
HAN currently has three teams, each coordinate a distinct part of our advocacy work.

COMMUNITY & OUTREACH TEAM (2 CHAIRS)
This team helps plan activities and outreach to recruit new members to HAN and build community within our group to retain members and build solidarity.

POLICY & EDUCATION TEAM (2 CHAIRS)
This team stays connected to policy issues and campaigns we're fighting for. They make sure that the membership is kept up to date on the progress of different bills and campaigns and develops educational initiatives to ensure that members are informed and up to date on the issues.

MOBILIZATION TEAM CHAIRS (2 CHAIRS)
This team develops strategies to mobilize our members at key moments around the campaigns we're fighting for and helps our members develop the skills they need to be effective advocates through skills-based trainings.

All chairs will also serve on the Leadership Team.
