Student Name *
When Jesus went up to Heaven after rising from the dead, he left his friend Peter in charge of all his followers here on earth. Today, we have Pope Francis as the head of all Jesus' followers around the world. In our parish, the pastor is our leader. Ask: Do you know the name of our priest? (Father Bill) *
Explain to your child that a priest is a man who serves God's people. He leads the people when they gathered in church to worship. He leads most of the prayers at Mass and wears special clothes. Ask: How are his clothes different than ours? What actions does he do? He is the leader of our church family. That's why we call him father. *
Help your child find page 10 in their handbooks. They will be able to recognize the picture of the priest in the vestments he wears when he celebrates Mass. Have them look for any shapes they see in the picture. Hand out crayons and direct your child to color the shapes in the picture the same color they see in the shapes at the bottom of the [age. *
This week's Word of the Week is pastor.  Please share this definition with your child: A pastor is a priest who leads a parish? *
Please practice saying the following prayers:  the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and practice making the Sign of the Cross every day. Look on pages 32-33 of your "What the Church Believes and Teaches" handbook if you need help.  Select all the prayers you practiced this week.   *
