The Longhouse Dialogues is a Women Deliver Mobilization-satellite event, with a prime location at Harbour Green Park next to the Vancouver Convention Centre (the conference venue).
Situated to capitalize on the energy of this unique global gathering, The Longhouse Dialogues complements the conference and emphasizes the inclusion of local, young, and Indigenous women’s voices.
Four non-permanent, traditional Longhouses (in the style of the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, Kwakwaka’wakw and Pacific Island peoples) will be erected to provide a backdrop for BC-focused, Canadian-centric events and dialogues that will explore pertinent issues to women and girls. The Longhouse Dialogues will honour Indigenous ways of communicating and create a space for the public to engage in important dialogues in a safe and inclusive manner.
The Longhouse Dialogues affords thousands of members of the general public, Indigenous peoples, and conference attendees from around the world–including leaders from various levels of government–the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with one another in authentic and intimate gathering spaces.
The event will take place between May 31st–June 5th, between 7 am and 9 pm. We are looking for volunteers to fill roles throughout the event. Shifts will be around 4-5 hours and consist of setup, takedown, public engagement, and site management (eg. zero waste program).
To make this event possible, we require the help of motivated individuals, both young and old. We encourage peoples of all abilities and identifications to volunteer.
Volunteering with us is an amazing opportunity to gain experience, meet new people, and have fun. If you are interested, please complete the form below and we will get in touch with you soon.
