Phlebotomy Survey
Phlebotomy services (blood test) is usually commissioned and  provided by the Community services in a hospital setting, however some Practices have offered this without resource to their vulnerable, older frail patients at the Surgery. Recently, due to Covid, only urgent blood tests could be done.  As services return to normal, blood testing needs to increase to address the backlog and GP practices are offering to do this work.

As we return to the “new normal” some patients have requested to  have blood tests at the GP practices and we would like to support this if there is a demand. we would like to have your views whether you would like to have a blood test at your GP practice or would rather go to the hospital. We understand there is a need for increased capacity to address backlog of work and Dependent on the results of the survey Barnet Practices intend to approach the commissioners to request resources to initiate phlebotomy services closer to patients home in local GP Practices.
